♻️ DELAWARE RECYCLING & DISPOSAL RULES
Delaware has specific state-level laws, particularly for plastics and electronics. We ensure these items are handled properly outside of the landfill.
| Prohibited or Restricted Item (DE Rules) | JUNK-RAT Action |
| Electronics (E-Waste) | Taken to certified e-waste recyclers for proper breakdown. |
| Plastic Bags & Film | Cannot be included in single-stream recycling (they clog machinery). We ensure they are collected separately for the appropriate “at-store” film recycling programs or sent for proper processing. |
| Wet or Contaminated Recyclables | We sort and separate any clean cardboard, paper, glass, and metal containers for the Universal Recycling Program. |
| Tires & Lead-Acid Batteries | Taken to licensed facilities for recycling, as required by law. |
🛑 ITEMS WE CANNOT TAKE (Hazardous Waste Policy)
We cannot accept anything classified as hazardous material. This is crucial in coastal and sensitive environments.
- Chemicals: Pool Chemicals, Solvents, Oil/Gasoline, or Unlabeled Drums.
- Wet Paint: Oil-based or Latex Paint that has not been dried out/hardened.
- Asbestos & Medical Waste.
For proper disposal of hazardous household waste, please contact the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) for their collection events and drop-off locations.
