🏇 WHAT WE HAUL IN KENTUCKY
Junk Removal: Rolling Smoothly Through the Bluegrass State
Kentucky has firm rules on what can be buried in a landfill—especially for items that require special handling. JUNK-RAT knows the regulations set by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet and local ordinances, ensuring your junk is disposed of or recycled with full compliance.
We save you the trip, the fees, and the hassle of securing loads and meeting local facility hours!
📝 COMMON JUNK WE HAUL & KY Compliance
| Category | Typical Items We Haul | Kentucky Compliance Note |
| Major Appliances (White Goods) | Refrigerators, Freezers, Washers, Dryers, Stoves, AC Units. | Requires Special Handling. Appliances containing refrigerants (Freon) are generally prohibited from landfills unless the Freon is removed and documented by a certified professional. We manage this process to ensure compliance. |
| Scrap Tires | Car, truck, and equipment tires (on or off the rim). | Landfill Ban. Whole tires are prohibited from disposal in Kentucky landfills. We take them to state-approved facilities for recycling and processing. (Most residents are only allowed to self-transport 4-10 tires for free). |
| Electronics (E-Waste) | Old TVs (especially CRTs), Computers, Monitors, Printers. | Recycling is Strongly Encouraged. While household e-waste isn’t banned from landfills in Kentucky, it’s highly discouraged due to hazardous components like lead and mercury. We prioritize taking these items to specialized e-scrap recyclers. |
| Furniture & Debris | Couches, tables, chairs, box springs, construction debris, and hot tubs. | For upholstered items like mattresses and furniture, some local jurisdictions (like Covington) require them to be wrapped in plastic. We handle the preparation and proper disposal in permitted solid waste or C&D landfills. |
| Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) | Dried latex paint, certain cleaners, fertilizers in small quantities. | Landfill Acceptable (With Conditions). HHW from households is not regulated as strictly as business waste. We accept dried latex paint (solidified with kitty litter) and other fully consumed household chemicals, diverting them from general trash where possible. |
⚠️ ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT
