| Prohibited Item (WV Disposal Ban) | JUNK-RAT Action |
| Tires (Whole or Shredded) | Taken to certified tire recycling or collection events. |
| Lead-Acid Batteries | Delivered to authorized battery recyclers. |
| Yard Waste (Leaves, Grass, Brush) | Taken to composting facilities or managed appropriately (exceptions apply to composting facilities). |
| Covered Electronic Devices (CEDs) | Taken to specialized e-waste recyclers as required by state law. |
🛑 ITEMS WE CANNOT TAKE (Hazardous Waste Policy)
Due to state and federal regulations, we cannot accept anything classified as hazardous material. This includes items with connections to the region’s industrial past:
- Mining/Industrial Chemicals: Acids, Solvents, or Slurry Residuals.
- Toxic Liquids: Wet Paint, Motor Oil, Anti-freeze, Gasoline.
- Ammunition/Explosives: Fireworks, Flares, or related materials.
- Asbestos & Medical Waste.
For proper disposal of these materials, please contact your local WV Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) or county Solid Waste Authority for Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) programs.
That should cover West Virginia’s specific needs. Would you like me to move on to the next state for a “What We Take” list?
